Survival camping is often a necessity for individuals without housing or a vehicle when city streets and traditional shelters are unsafe or unavailable. Typically involving off-grid camping without formal permission, this reality carries constant risks—including forced eviction, severe weather, dehydration, and health hazards. To be viable, an effective survival camping setup must address five core essentials: dependable shelter, clean water sourcing, safe cooking capability, hygienic waste management, and pack-out garbage disposal.
Our suggested equipment list is;
Shelter: Two-person tent paired with an 8 x 10ft overhead tarp.
Bedding: Sleeping bag with an insulating mat.
Water Collection: Plastic sheet / catchment tarp, a 5 to10 gallon container and a water filter.
Cooking & Purification: Portable propane camp stove.
Hygiene & Waste: Garden trowel for digging catholes and heavy-duty contractor trash bags.
Mobility: Backpack or durable duffel large enough to transport all gear.
