Basketball Skills
Our Basketball Skills Program introduces young athletes to the fundamentals of the game in a fun, age-appropriate way. Through engaging drills and games, players will learn basic skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, footwork, and teamwork.
Board Game Discovery Club
Join us after school for a fun and interactive club where strategy, creativity, and teamwork come to life through classic and modern board games! Students will have the chance to learn new games, sharpen problem-solving skills, and enjoy friendly competition with their peers. From cooperative adventures to fast-paced strategy challenges, this club is the perfect way to unwind, build friendships, and develop critical thinking—all while having a great time.
Butter Lane Run Club
Run Club is a fun and energetic after-school program where students build endurance, strength, and confidence through running. Each session includes warm-ups, running games, and distance challenges designed to improve fitness while making running enjoyable. The club promotes teamwork, goal-setting, and a lifelong love of staying active.
Cheer Squad
Our Youth Cheer Squad is an energetic and team-focused program designed to build school spirit, confidence, and athletic skills in a fun and supportive environment. Participants will learn age-appropriate cheer techniques such as chants, basic stunts, jumps, and simple routines while developing teamwork, coordination, and leadership.
Chess with Master Ulysses Tapley!
Dive into the exciting world of chess with our after-school program led by expert Ulysses Tapley. It's more than just chess; it's a training ground for critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Studies show chess boosts cognitive abilities, memory, concentration, and logical thinking. Our curriculum covers tactics, strategy, and endgame skills, enhancing both brainpower and social skills. Gymnastics and Tumbling
Our tumbling classes focus on the fundamentals of gymnastics, incorporating a mix of exercises, challenges, and games to build both physical and mental strength. Techniques are honed through consistent practice, aiming to show children their inherent strength and resilience in a sport they love. We encourage exploring different movement styles to find one that resonates with each child, enhancing confidence and instilling values like dedication and perseverance.
LEGOmania
Unleash engineering creativity through our dynamic Legomania program, where students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 tackle ambitious, complex LEGO sets that require sustained teamwork and collaborative problem-solving. Participants learn to negotiate roles, delegate tasks, and coordinate efforts as they undertake multi-session building projects that no single student could complete independently. Through collaborative construction of intricate architectural models and elaborate themed sets, students develop spatial reasoning, mathematical thinking, and essential communication skills. The program emphasizes how complex engineering challenges require diverse perspectives and complementary skill sets, teaching students to value each team member's contributions while working toward shared goals that mirror real-world design processes.
Fashion
In Fashion Club, students explore their creativity through sewing and design. From sketching ideas to stitching fabrics, members will learn the basics of fashion construction while creating their own unique pieces. This hands-on club encourages self-expression, collaboration, and confidence as students bring their style visions to life.
Jewelry Making Club
The Youth Jewelry Making Club is a creative, hands-on program where students can express their personal style while learning fun and practical design skills. Participants will explore different jewelry-making techniques such as beading, wire wrapping, charms, and bracelet/necklace design.
Learning Circles
Learning Circles is an after-school program designed to support young learners with homework completion, foundational skills, and enrichment activities in a small-group setting.
Mathletes & Coding: Future Innovators
This dynamic after-school program is tailored for advanced students with a keen interest in mathematics and computer science. Designed for students in Grades 3–5, this program is also open to younger students with acumen in mathematics and a passion for STEAM learning. Participants are prepared for competitive success in the Mathletes competitions and the VEX Robotics challenges. Through rigorous instruction and practical, hands-on activities, students will enhance their mathematical reasoning and coding abilities, equipping them for excellence in these exciting competitions and beyond.
Multisport
Elevate your child's athletic journey with Ross School's dynamic multisport programs! Tailored for budding athletes, our curriculum blends individual prowess and team dynamics, spanning soccer and a variety of field games. Participants will dive into the essential rules and techniques of each sport. We focus on fun, skillful play, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship through engaging games and scrimmages. Music Expression Session
The “Expression Session” is a dynamic music program designed to guide young musicians as they explore the power of music and creativity. Through interactive sessions that blend storytelling with hands-on activities, children engage in music-making using percussion instruments, chant rhythms, and dance with silk fairies, enriching their understanding and expression of love and peace. Highlighting the profound impact of their creations, children share how their music has touched lives, reinforcing the theme of unity and the belief that music can truly unite the world. This program is a celebration of creativity and communal harmony, inspiring young minds to become ambassadors of peace.
Pickleball Club
Our youth Pickleball Club introduces young athletes to one of the fastest-growing sports in the country! Players will learn the fundamentals of serving, rallying, scoring, and teamwork through fun drills and friendly matches. Each session focuses on developing coordination, strategy, and sportsmanship in a positive, encouraging environment. Whether new to the game or looking to improve, participants will enjoy learning and playing together while building confidence on the court.
Ravens Club Basketball
Ravens Club Basketball is a dynamic and engaging program designed for young children to develop their gross motor skills and introduce them to basic basketball techniques. Our mission is to create a fun and nurturing environment where children can build a foundation for a healthy, active lifestyle while exploring the fundamentals of basketball.
Ross School Theatre: Lemonade! The Musical
Bursting with imagination and fun, Lemonade! The Musical invites our youngest performers in Kindergarten and Grade 1 to explore the magic of music and theatre. Inspired by beloved nursery rhyme characters—from Chicken Little to Little Bo Peep—this delightful production teaches resilience, optimism, and teamwork as the characters learn to make the best out of life’s ups and downs.
Students will sing, move, and act their way through five lively, age-appropriate songs in a variety of musical styles, accompanied by simple choreography and colorful staging. The experience builds confidence, cooperation, and a love for the performing arts while celebrating creativity and joy.
Ross School Theatre: Wonka the Musical with South Fork Performing Arts In partnership with South Fork Performing Arts, Ross School is proud to present Wonka the Musical, an inspiring and comprehensive musical theatre experience for students in Grades 2–5. Participants will explore every aspect of theatrical production—from acting and singing to stagecraft and collaborative performance. Through guided rehearsals and creative workshops, students will develop confidence, vocal and physical expression, and ensemble skills in a supportive and imaginative environment.
The program culminates in two community performances where students showcase their talent and teamwork on stage. Wonka the Musical offers young performers an exciting opportunity to deepen their theatrical knowledge, build friendships, and celebrate the joy of storytelling through music and movement.
Note: Students participating in Wonka the Musical are automatically enrolled in Learning Circles (Grade 2) or Study Skills (Grades 3–5) from 3:00–4:00 p.m. on rehearsal days. This hour of structured supervision and enrichment is included in the cost of the Wonka program. Families who wish for their child to join a different after-school program that meets during this 3:00–4:00 p.m. time block on Mondays or Thursdays may do so; however, an additional program fee will apply.
Still Life Drawing
Young artists ages 8–11 will develop foundational still life drawing skills under the guidance of Lower School Visual Arts teacher Christina Graham. Through close observation and hands-on practice, students will learn how to compose, sketch, shade, and bring everyday objects to life with form, proportion, and texture.
Throughout the course, students will explore the timeless tradition of still life art, studying exemplars from masters such as Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, and Janet Fish. They will consider how these artists used light, shadow, and perspective to transform simple arrangements into works of beauty and meaning.
Experimenting with pencil, charcoal, and color, students will strengthen their technical drawing abilities while cultivating patience, focus, and appreciation for detail. The class will culminate in a small exhibition of student work inspired by the still life genre—celebrating each artist’s growing confidence and creative eye.
Study Skills
Our after-school Study Skills program is designed specifically for students in Grades 3–5. In this program, families work closely with our committed faculty to help their children develop essential academic and executive functioning skills. Students participating in the Study Skills program receive focused attention and support aimed at cultivating key study habits and organizational skills vital to their academic success.
Team Basketball
Our youth Team Basketball program is designed to help players grow their skills, build confidence, and fall in love with the game in a fun and supportive environment. This program focuses on player development, including fundamentals such as dribbling, shooting, defense, teamwork, and game IQ. Players will practice twice a week, giving them consistent opportunities to improve their skills and work with their teammates. Each weekend, the team will compete in a game, playing in the Sag Harbor Youth Hoop Basketball League against other local teams, allowing players to apply what they’ve learned in a real game setting.
