Your counselors are here to support you!

Your mental health and emotional well-being are VERY important, if you are having a difficult time, please reach out to your counselor.


As your school Counselors, we are here to enhance your learning process and promote academic, career, and social/emotional development. Our goal is to help you achieve optimal personal growth, social skills, and values, and set career goals for you to become a productive, contributing member of life after high school. To better serve each and every student, we will now be assigning counselors by student's last names.

Mr. Kerr

College and Career Coordinator



Mr. Kerr is RUP's College and Career Coordinator. He can help students with all college questions, and supports students with exploration, applications, and achieving post-secondary success!

Ms. Magallanes

Counselor for last names starting with: 

A-F (Grades 9-12)


Ms. Neftaly grew up in Healdsburg and graduated from SSU with her Masters in Counseling in 2019. Prior to working at RUP, she was a counselor at SRHS. In her spare time, she likes to go hiking with her dachshund named Pumkin.  

Ms. Azalea Roman

Counselor for last names starting with: 

G-O (Grades 9-12) 

Ms. Azalea supports students on campus with any personal, social, emotional and academic needs. She also coordinates health education. Ms. Azalea attended Roseland Elementary and proudly calls Roseland her home. 

Ms. Camacho

Counselor for last names starting with: 

P-Z (Grades 9-12)


Ms. Claudia Camacho supports students with any personal, social emotional, and academic needs. Her office is located in RUP's College & Career Center (CCC). 


Mrs. Smith

Mrs. Smith is RUP's School Psychologist, she supports students with Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and provides crisis support. 

Mr. Garcia-Valdez

Mr. Garcia is a counseling intern at RUP. He can help students navigate high school and plan post-secondary education.

Ms. Talavera

Ms. Talavera is one of our school counseling interns at RUP. She was raised in the Central Valley, currently attends SSU and will be graduating in spring 2024. She likes to go dancing, explore nature, be a foodie, and watch K-dramas.

School-Based Therapy Support 

Sometimes the stress that comes with not having a consistent routine can cause us to seek out extra support. Please speak to your school counselor if you feel you need additional support at this time, counselor can refer you to a school-based therapist. 


Alba Diaz Canela ASW

Spanish Speaking, RSD Alumni: Employee of Keystone Therapy and Training Services since 2022. Worked in school social services and mental health for 5 years in Santa Rosa. Currently a clinical school based social and mental health services at three different school districts in Sonoma County.

Carz Flores-Adams ASW, PPSC

 Employee of Keystone Therapy and Training Services since 2023. Worked in school social services and mental health for 10 years in the North Bay. Currently a clinical school based social and mental health services at three different school districts in Sonoma County.

Carolina Herrera LMFT

Employee of Sonoma County Office of Education works in the Behavioral Health & Well-being Department as a Mental Health Counseling Specialist. Carolina believes that every child has an innate ability to heal and find a path to wholeness, which inspires and informs her work. She seeks to create environments that encourage agency in children and allow for healing to take place, with specific emphasis and expertise with underserved populations such as the Latino community in Sonoma County. Carolina has a B.S in Anthropology and Psychology from University of Illinois, and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies. Prior to working at SCOE, she provided individual and family therapy to children and teenagers for six years at Social Advocates for Youth.

Sonoma County Grief Counseling

Sutter Care at Home and St. Joseph Health are free, community-based grief services. In addition, consider counseling supports available through your health insurance, or contact your school administration, counselor or psychologist about other local supports.

Sutter Care at Home Bereavement & Grief Support:

The bereavement and grief support programs are open to the public and provide support for adults, young adults and children who have experienced a loss.

Individual counseling is available, as well as community education and training.

St. Joseph Health Hospice Grief Services:

Hospice Services of St. Joseph Health offers individual and group support to those who have experienced the death or are anticipating the death of a loved one.

Grief Counseling provided by licensed counselors, interns and/or trained grief support volunteers.

Services are provided at no cost. 

All services are offered in both English and Spanish and at all three office locations:


SAY Grief Services: 

SAY Grief Services is now offering up to 8 free sessions of individual grief support to youth ages 10-24, who have experienced the death of a person or pet. This service will be offered on a secure telehealth (video) platform for the time being, and is available in both English and Spanish.
