Grades are weighted to help reflect all the different areas of student learning.
Journal (30% of overall grade): This portion is the largest percentage because this reflects the student work at school and home. Students are graded on their Do Now section, Notebook Organization, Unit Topics, and Note-Taking. See this doc for a full notebook rubric.
Tests (25% of overall grade): Unit tests are administered at the end of a Social Studies unit. The
Class Check In (25% of overall grade): Students are assessed on a variety of topics discussed in class. These "check-in" assignments verify if a student comprehends a topic. This includes reading comprehension and video comprehension.
Participation (20% of overall grade): This grade reflects learning behavior. This grade goes beyond raising your hand in class and being actively involved in the lesson. This includes coming to class with prepared materials, having your Chromebook charged, and working together in a group.
