First Day of School is Aug 11!
First: CHECK YOUR EMAIL! I will email you before the day is over with what we did in class that day and where you can find it.
Second: Check google classroom.
Third: Check the "What Did I Miss?" folder the day you return to school, even if it is not a day our class meets. If I passed out paperwork, it will be in the folder for your class period WITH YOUR NAME ON IT.
All assignments are due the next class period.
If you have an absence on a due date, the assignment is expected to be turned in the day you return.
If work is late, the maximum amount of credit that can be earned is 80%.
I highly recommend that you reach out to Mrs Mancha if you know of an upcoming absence before you are out.
*** If assignments are over a week late, they are no longer accepted ***
If you KNOW that you are going to miss a test day (either due to a personal appointment or sports), it would be best to take it before you are out if possible.
If the absence is unexpected (emergency or illness), you will be expected to make up that test within 2 days of the original test date.
I highly recommend that you carve out a day after school to take the test, to guarantee that you have enough time; homeroom is only 30 minutes, you will not be able to start the test and then come back to it. Trust me, your coaches will understand and let you leave practice to take the test.
If the test is not taken within 2 days of the original date, it will be considered late.
The point of the class is to learn the material.
If you are unhappy with your test score, you will have another opportunity to show what you know.
However, there are stipulations:
1. Get a Test Retake Form from Mrs Mancha
2. Indicate the reason for the original grade.
3. Attend tutorials at least once.
4. Have a parent sign the retake form.
Once the above is done, a retake date will be determined.
You must initiate this process within one week of the original test date. The retake must be done within 2 weeks of the original test date.
This does not apply to the 6 weeks benchmark exam as there will not be enough time between the test date and the end of the six weeks.
You will be given an assignment spreadsheet at the beginning of each unit.
If you utilize this spreadsheet throughout the unit (Mrs Mancha will be checking it on a weekly basis), you will be able to drop the lowest non-test, non-zero (assignments not attempted/turned in can be dropped) grade.
Focused silence is the intentional use of quiet to enhance concentration, reflection, or emotional impact. It creates space for deeper thinking, active listening, or mindfulness by eliminating distractions. In learning or communication, focused silence can help clarify ideas and strengthen understanding without interruption.
