Root and Rise Therapy LLC
Welcome!
Addressing both the mind and body in therapy allows for a deeper and more gentle way of healing. I use brain science and somatic-based modalities alongside traditional therapy to help you root back into your body and rise up into a new joyful way of being.

Trauma Recovery
Whether it’s a single event or a long-term series of attachment wounds, trauma causes changes on all levels of the mind, body, and spirit. We may lose connection to ourselves and our bodies resulting in a numbness or shutting out from the world. It can cause us to be stuck in a state of over-reactivity, fear, and anxiety. It can distort how we see ourselves and the world. Working with the body can offer us tools and insights that traditional talk therapy might not.
I really value the courage, strength, and commitment it takes to come to therapy. I work to stay within your window of tolerance as you learn tools and skills to safely expand that window. I enjoy working with individuals who have had less-than-ideal experiences with therapy in the past or those who may be feeling stuck.
Chronic pain
Both trauma and chronic pain can contribute to an over-active stress response and hyperactivity in the fear center of the brain. This can happen outside of our conscious awareness and creates a feedback loop that leads to additional suffering. I am trained in modalities to address certain chronic pain conditions. By working with the brain's fear center we can work to create new neural pathways that can de-activate pain. I am happy to work in collaboration with your medical providers.
Chronic illness
Some chronic illness can contribute to neurological symptoms. Brain fog, depression, de-realization, insomnia, hypersensitivity to sound/light/touch, and poor executive functioning can make it challenging to regulate emotion and function in daily life. Not being able to engage in life as you used to can lead to feelings of loss of self and isolation. By tuning inward from a place of compassionate curiosity we can learn how to listen to and connect with our bodies.
Just like the brain can learn chronic pain it can also learn pathways that lead to debilitating symptoms such as chronic fatigue, brain fog, and reactivity. I enjoy working with individuals with long-haul COVID, hEDS, POTS, MCAS, toxic mold exposure, and tick borne illness.
