The Romsey School parents are encouraged to drop off students off in central Romsey or Waitrose car park in order to avoid congestion in the residential areas around the school.
If your child wishes to cycle onto the school site and keep your bike on site during the day you must apply for a cycle permit. By having a permit our pupils agree to:
Wear a cycle helmet at all times
Take extra precautions by wearing highly visible clothing and fitting appropriate lights to my bike during the winter months
T o only ride on the cycle path that leads to the bike racks and nowhere else on the school site

Payment is made in advance prior to the start of each term and is currently priced at £4.20 per day, a sum which is subsidised by the school. The price for 2021/22 will not be fixed until April of next year. It is our aim to keep the costs to an acceptable level to achieve maximum usage. The amount is fixed for the year and refunds are not offered for sickness or holidays or termination. However we do not charge for inset days.
Bus Passes are issued to each pupil for the whole academic year and must be carried at all times, as regular checks are made. This is also to ensure that only pupils who have paid for a seat are using the bus. Replacement passes are charged at £3. Bus passes are issued each year and the previous year’s passes must be handed in at the end of the summer term.
Parents will be asked to specify which stop will be used according to the routes provided. Any changes to your chosen stop should be advised to the Finance Office as soon as possible and pupils must use the same stop morning and afternoon, wherever possible. There should be no inter-changing of buses without reference to the school. There will be no places available for additional children to travel (i.e. going to a friend’s house) if they do not already have a place on the same bus.
Once you have received confirmation of your place from Hampshire County Council, the school will generate a letter to all parents in the areas currently serviced by the buses (usually in April) in order that places can be reserved. Payment is requested by the beginning of August in order that we can secure the level of provision currently available, into the next academic year.
One full term’s written notice is required to surrender your seat on the bus. If you decide to remove your child from the service part way through a term, the full amount is still payable and refunds will not be given.
If any of the routes look as though they will be oversubscribed, we reserve the right to amend the routes to make the most effective use of the spaces on the buses.
Many of our Southampton based students travel to school using the train. We are very lucky that we have Romsey Train Station just a 10 minute walk away. The route includes two crossings, a zebra crossing and a traffic light crossing.

Many of our students travel to school using public buses, in particular the Bluestar service. This service comes in and departs from Romsey Bus Station, just a short walk from our school site. This route follows on continual road, with very few road crossings.
