Welcome to our first Careers newsletter!

Miss J Phillipps

Careers Leader, The Romsey School

I have worked in Romsey School since 1998, and as my role with the Careers Service began to concentrate geographically in this area I was asked by the school to work for them exclusively.

It is unusual for a school to have their own Careers Adviser but for me the benefits are numerous.

I understand how the school works, most pupils know who I am and where to find me and I have been able to build close professional relationships with colleagues over the years which helps us all to support and guide our students.

The role gives me the privilege of working with our students 1:1 and in a teaching capacity and I am always determined to make sure our students leave Romsey School with future prospects.

In my spare time I am an enthusiastic sailor and am in the process of renovating a boat. My latest acquisition (during lockdown) was to adopt a 12 year old Bengal Cat called Ludo who never stops "talking". He particularly enjoys walking over my keyboard when I am typing up notes from careers interviews and quite likes to catch and bring home live rats!
