Our school has three norms: Be respectful. Be responsible. Be safe.
My classroom is "home" during my school day. My class is family, and I expect everyone to be respected and treated kindly. Parent communication is so important to me. Please let me know if you ever have a concern.
Also, I want to celebrate your child! Be sure that I have the best option to communicate with you when I have a celebration or concern to share.

Core Content Classes: We use Standard's Based Grading. Your child will receive a 4, 3, 2, or 1 in math and science for each of the outcome statements. My outcome statements are based on the Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. Please see the math and science tabs for a look at the outcome statements.
I love SBG, because it is not a grade for doing work, but instead, an indicator of understanding. When your child scores a 1 or 2, I will do my absolute best to reteach and give more opportunities for understanding. Here is presentation that we show our students to explain Standards-Based Grading:

Our school can help buy the supplies that your child needs, but when families want to help with supply lists, here is what we request for our sixth graders:
Projects-based learning
In our school, we incorporate project-based learning. The students will learn multiple standards while working on a real-life project that connects to their world. This is not only an exciting way to learn, but an exciting way to teach.
