About Us

Romahapa School is quietly positioned south of Balclutha, west of Kaka Point and north of Owaka, nestled on the side of a hill - some might even say positioned in the middle of a paddock; Romahapa School is in fact the oldest of it's kind in the South Otago area.

Today Romahapa School continues to stand strong, bringing pupils in from the surrounding areas of Paretai, Kaka Point, Glenoamaru, Owaka, Balclutha and from the Romahapa township itself.

Once renowned for being a bustling railway township, Romahapa is now synonymous with providing local tamariki a quality education. Dubbed as 'free-range' and unique, our school prides itself on providing a nurturing environment where students have the freedom to be active agents in their own learning, making us a hidden gem in the education landscape.

There is so much more to Romahapa School than meets the eye!
