About Mrs. Friest

Hello!

     Mrs. Jodi Friest grew up in Hubbard, Iowa and received her Bachelor’s degree in Music from the University of Northern Iowa.  In 2016, she obtained her Master’s in Music with Music Education Specialization degree, along with Organization of American Kodály Educators (OAKE) endorsed national Kodály certification, from Colorado State University.  She is in her 13th year of teaching.  She has a passion for teaching elementary music and laying strong music literacy foundations for her students.  She believes that music literacy is the right of every child regardless of school size.  She currently lives outside of Roland, Iowa with her husband and teaches K- 6 general music at Roland-Story.  

      In her spare time, she loves to visit her son Michael in Omaha, enourage her oldest daughter Madison who is in in vet school at ISU and youngest daughter Macy who is in mechanical engineering at Iowa State.  Mrs. Friest loves going to ISU sporting events and music events whenever she can!
