Hi, I’m Rodney ‘Real Estate Tate.’ I’m a Real Estate Broker, Educator, and Coach based in Memphis, TN. My passion is simple: helping people move forward — whether that’s buying or selling a home, launching a career in real estate, or building systems that make business and life more productive. With experience across real estate services, education, and city projects, I bring a mix of practical know-how and real-world strategy. My goal is to make the complex simple, to empower you with the right tools, and to guide you with straight talk and expertise. At the end of the day, I’m here to educate and empower — not overwhelm.
Built on Service, Driven by Purpose
My journey began with service. As a proud U.S. Navy veteran, I learned early on the values of discipline, resilience, and putting others first. Those years instilled in me a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to serving with integrity — qualities that continue to shape how I approach my work and my life today.
After the Navy, I earned my stripes in sales as an automotive sales representative with General Motors. That experience sharpened my skills in communication, negotiation, and customer service. More importantly, it taught me how to truly listen, build trust, and guide people through major financial decisions. Those lessons became the foundation of my career in real estate, where I recognized that the same level of care and professionalism was needed to help families buy and sell homes with confidence.
Becoming licensed gave me the privilege of walking alongside clients in some of the biggest transitions of their lives. What started as a career quickly grew into a mission — to not only guide clients through transactions but to also educate them, so they felt empowered and prepared every step of the way.
Along the way, I expanded my service through public work as a Right of Way Agent with the City of Memphis. In this role, I manage complex property acquisitions, easements, and negotiations that directly impact our city’s growth and infrastructure. As the only licensed broker in the Real Estate Service Center, I bring both technical expertise and practical experience, ensuring the city’s projects are completed with professionalism, compliance, and community in mind.
Education has always been at the heart of what I do. In 2020, I began teaching real estate and soon launched Rodney Tate Educates (RTE) and partnered with The Real Estate Academy. Through these platforms, I make real estate and technology simple, practical, and accessible for agents, entrepreneurs, and professionals. I believe knowledge is power, and my passion is giving others the tools to succeed without feeling overwhelmed.
Beyond teaching, I’ve been blessed to serve in leadership roles with organizations like NAREB, MAAR, Tennessee REALTORS®, United Housing, OTB901, and the Young Realtist Division (YRD). These roles allow me to lead, mentor, and give back — building wealth, knowledge, and opportunity across our communities.
Today, whether I’m representing a client, teaching a class, coaching a professional, or guiding a city project, my mission remains the same: to educate and empower, not overwhelm. My journey is proof that with the right tools, mindset, and support, anyone can take the next step toward growth — and I’m here to help you do just that.
With years of experience across real estate, education, and city projects, I’ve earned credentials that reflect both expertise and commitment. These designations ensure that every client and student I serve receives professional, knowledgeable, and trusted guidance.
Teaching isn’t just something I do — it’s part of who I am. Since 2020, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a real estate educator, helping new and experienced agents gain the confidence and knowledge they need to succeed. Through Rodney Tate Educates (RTE) and The Real Estate Academy, I’ve built courses, workshops, and resources that make real estate and technology simple, practical, and easy to apply. My focus has always been on removing the fear and confusion that hold people back, and replacing it with clarity, tools, and action.
As a mentor, I go beyond the classroom. I’ve guided future agents, entrepreneurs, and even colleagues in city government by sharing real-world strategies and encouraging them to take bold steps in their careers. Whether I’m leading a classroom session, coaching one-on-one, or developing digital tools, my mission remains the same: to educate and empower — not overwhelm.
I’m proud to say that my work as an educator has grown far beyond the local level. From teaching continuing education to building national-level courses with organizations like Tennessee REALTORS® and NAR, I’ve seen firsthand how the right teaching style can inspire action. My goal is always to keep things simple, motivating, and actionable — because knowledge only matters if you put it to work.
Leadership isn’t about titles — it’s about service, impact, and creating opportunities for others.
For me, leadership has never been about titles — it’s about service. I believe in giving back, building opportunities, and creating space for others to succeed. That’s why community and leadership have been central to my journey in real estate and beyond.
I’ve been honored to serve in leadership roles across some of the most impactful organizations in our industry, including NAREB, the Memphis Area Association of REALTORS® (MAAR), and Tennessee REALTORS®. Today, I serve as the National Treasurer of the Young Realtist Division (YRD), where I manage resources and financial strategy that empower chapters across the country. These positions aren’t just about professional growth — they are about ensuring the next generation of real estate leaders has the tools and opportunities to thrive.
Beyond organizational leadership, I am deeply committed to community-focused initiatives. I’ve helped lead wealth-building events that educate families on the power of homeownership, mentored young professionals and interns as they take their first steps into real estate, and collaborated with citywide outreach programs to bring education and resources directly to the people who need them most. Each initiative reflects my belief that real estate is more than property — it’s a pathway to empowerment, stability, and generational opportunity.
My leadership style is rooted in service, accountability, and action. Whether it’s balancing budgets at the national level, mentoring a student in Memphis, or partnering with local organizations to close gaps in access and education, my focus remains the same: to lead with integrity, to serve with purpose, and to leave a lasting impact.
My Mission:
Educate and empower — not overwhelm.
My mission is simple: to educate and empower — not overwhelm. Every role I’ve taken on, from serving in the Navy to guiding families in real estate, teaching future agents, and leading community initiatives, has shaped this commitment.
I believe that real estate, education, and leadership are more than careers — they’re opportunities to create stability, build wealth, and inspire confidence. My goal is to break down the complex, give people practical tools they can use, and open doors that lead to growth and opportunity.
Whether you’re buying a home, starting your career in real estate, scaling a business, or seeking guidance, my promise is the same: I will meet you where you are, give you the tools you need, and walk alongside you toward success.
