After graduating from Penn State, I planned to continue my education and pursue a career in Dance Therapy. Instead I became successful in the business world and ended up managing a Purchasing Department for a large corporation. After several years. I returned to my original love of Special Education and became a teacher!
This is my 21st year of teaching in an elementary school. I've enjoyed teaching 3rd, 4th and 5th grade.
I always try to create a learning environment that is fun, engaging, exciting, and positive. I want children to learn without even realizing that they are learning! I have high expectations for all my students, and like to see how much I can motivate and challenge them. However, I do realize that not every child learns in the same way. Some need more practice than others. Some are visual learners, while others are auditory or tactile learners. It is important to me that I figure out what works best for each child, and that they learn to believe in themselves.
Expectations:
I do expect my students to be prepared, try their best and to respect each other!
You will know exactly what your children are working on everyday by their homework and study guides. Their homework will reflect one of the lessons or skills they learned that day, so that you can help them practice and reinforce what they need to know and understand.
My goal for my third grade Resource Room students is "Fluency First". First and foremost, I will dedicate my time and effort into helping my Language Arts students read fluently. I will concentrate on making my Math Resource Room students fluent in their addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. I feel that fluency is the key to improve comprehension and problem solving skills. I hope you support me and encourage your children to read regularly and practice their facts.
I believe that parents and teachers are a team. I hope that together, we can make the best decisions for your child.
I will always keep the lines of communication open with frequent emails, updates and phone calls.
