Happy 2024-2025 school year! I am excited to start the year in third grade with you. Please don't hesitate to contact me via email with any questions as we progress through this year.
A little background: I have been teaching since 1997, with some time away to parent three children. I completed my graduate work as a reading specialist at Bank Street College of Education in 2003, and my Orton Gillingham certification at Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2022. I am excited to get to know our students, and look forward to a year of smiles and laughter as we learn and grow together in third grade!
Expectations:
1. H - Be honest.
2. E - Put yourself in other people’s shoes to think about how your actions/words will make them feel (Empathy).
3. A - Accept that we are all different.
4. R - Respect each other and all adults.
5. T - Trust in yourself and others.
SNACK TIME (BECAUSE WE ALL GET HUNGRY...)
We will have snack each day. If there is any schedule change, this will be flexible. Here are some guidelines for our snacks, since we are eating in our classroom:
Please be sure that your child's snack is free from nuts -- this means it cannot be processed in a facility with any nuts. Read packages carefully before sending it into school.
*Mistakes happen as we rush out in the morning. I will be checking each snack carefully. If something is accidentally sent in, I will just have your student take it home, unopened, and let you know.
Please limit your child's snack to one food item (container of fruit, bag of crackers, cheese stick, etc). We will be working as we snack, so think of something easily/neatly eaten while we multitask.
Water is the ONLY drink we allow during our snack and class time. We have water fountains that are filtered and allow students to refill water bottles. Please send your student to school with a water bottle that has a snug-fitting cap. Due to past experience, I recommend transporting this water bottle in an outer side pocket of the backpack, or separate from the backpack. Leaks happen!
