Learning Goals

Reading

In Reading, we are focusing on finding a just right book, a comfortable space, and goal setting for a successful year in third grade.

To help your student at home read every night! Use this list to ask questions about the book they are reading.

Writing

In Writing, we are focusing on sentence structure and paragraph writing.

To help your student at home encourage them to write! If they need help proofreading go by sentence by sentence and count up the errors. Let them find the errors in their sentences.

Math

In Math, we are focusing on rounding, adding, and subtracting three digit numbers.

To help your student at home make sure they know their basic facts. Play math games using dice or playing cards. I will be sending home and posting games to play.

Science

In Science, we are learning about weather and climate.

To help your student at home go outside and watch the weather. See if your student can identify the different types of clouds in the sky and the steps of the water cycle.

Social Studies

In Social Studies, we are learning about the continents and oceans. We are also learning valuable map skills.

To help your student at home, make sure they know where they live (street, town, county, state, country & continent). Also talk about difference places and if they are states, countries, or a continent.

Extras

We are working on acclimating back to school, getting to know each other, and wearing masks.

Please encourage your child to come to me with any questions they have throughout the day. In third grade we will learn a lot, but also have a lot of fun.
