Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Ellie Sunshine began her musical journey at the age of three, studying classical piano. Singing came just as naturally—music was always her way of expressing emotion and color. As a child, she would grab a broomstick as a microphone and sing in front of her family during New Year’s gatherings, radiating pure joy and creativity from an early age.

She loved writing poems, often gazing at the moon each night to receive inspiration. Those moments of quiet reflection grew into a personal book of poetry and original songs. After stepping away from classical piano during middle school, Ellie began playing acoustic guitar, performing folk and pop songs, and discovering a new freedom in self-expression through voice and instrument.

During her teenage years, she expanded her musical world—playing drums and singing simultaneously in a local band called 三角関数 (Trigonometric Functions), performing both American pop and J-pop songs. The band’s original works, including “Southern Wind,” “Sugar,” and “Crescent Moon,” showcased her gift for melody and heartfelt lyrics.

Her vocal talent was soon recognized when she won multiple youth singing competitions, including the Best Vocalist Award at the Popular Song Contest (POPCON) preliminary round in Osaka, a prestigious nationwide event presented by Yamaha.

As life moved forward, work commitments pulled Ellie away from performing, but her love for music never faded. A few years ago, a chance to record a duet reignited her passion—reminding her how deeply she missed creating and sharing music. From that moment, she returned to her craft with renewed purpose, writing and performing songs that reflect her journey of rediscovery.

Today, Ellie Sunshine’s music blends soft pop-rock and acoustic tones with touches of nostalgic R&B and jazz. Her songs radiate warmth, authenticity, and luminous energy—inviting listeners into a world of love, joy, and harmony.
