We are conducting research with some VENOMventure game players to find out. If you decide to sign up for research appointment, here is what we will ask your group to do:
Take a pre-survey to see what you know about certain science concepts (~8 min)
Play the game! (~45 min)
Take a breather and eat some snacks
Talk with a member of our research team about the experience (~15 min)
Take a post-survey to see if you learned anything new (~8 min)
Take a follow-up survey in a few weeks to see if you still remember anything about the game (~8 min, We'll send this to your email.)
All together, a research appointment takes about 90 minutes. Your group will also receive a $75 VISA gift card as a thank you for your time!
Research groups must have at least one child between the ages of 10 and 13. We are looking for some groups who speak Spanish and some who speak English. You can click here to book a research appointment.
If you are not interested in being part of the research and would like to just book a regular appointment, you can click here.
VENOMventure is a project led by Anna Thanukos and Lisa White at the University of California Museum of Paleontology, Teresa MacDonald of the University of Kansas, and Rockman et al Cooperative. VENOMventure is a project that seeks to understand if an escape room with a science theme can have an impact on participants’ understanding of STEM concepts and their attitudes and ideas about STEM careers. It is designed for families with children ages 8-17. You can read more about our research and your rights as a participant here.
