General Questions

Who can enroll in Adult Diploma classes?
Our Adult Diploma Program is open to adults who are 16 years of age or older and are no longer enrolled in high school.

Where are classes held?
Classes are held in person at Rockland High School during the evening.

When are classes offered?
Classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30–8:30 PM.

How do I register?
Bring your former high school's transcripts & MCAS testing as well as a withdrawal letter if needed. Attend registration and complete placement testing. You will receive information about your class assignment after registration is complete. 

Is there a cost to attend?
RRALC is state funded. There is no cost to attend this program.

Adult Diploma Program

Can I earn a high school diploma?
Yes. Eligible students can earn an accredited high school diploma by successfully completing the required coursework.

What happens if I miss classes?
Regular attendance is essential for success. Students who miss excessive classes may be withdrawn from the program and may need to reapply.

How many classes do I take?
Students take two classes each semester and work toward completing the required credits for graduation.

Can I transfer credits from another high school?
No. Previous high school credits cannot be transferred into this program. Students must complete all required coursework through our Adult Diploma Program.

How long will it take to earn my diploma?
The time varies depending on your attendance, successful completion of courses, and individual progress. Students most likely take up to 2 years to complete the required coursework.

ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

Who should enroll in ESOL classes?
ESOL classes are designed for adults whose first language is not English and who want to improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Do I need to take a placement test?
Yes. New students participate in a language assessment to determine the appropriate class level.

What levels of ESOL are offered?
Classes are available for beginning, high beginner, low intermediate and advanced English for academic purposes. These classes are dependent on enrollment.

What will I learn?
Students develop English skills for everyday life, employment, education, and community participation, including conversation, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary.

How long are ESOL classes?
Classes meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30–8:30 PM during the semester.

Do I need to attend every class?
Yes. Consistent attendance helps students make progress and maintain their enrollment.

Attendance & Expectations

What should I bring to class?
Students should bring a notebook, folder, pens or pencils, and any required course materials. Teachers will provide additional information on the first day of class.

Can I bring children to class?
No. Childcare is not provided, and children are not permitted in classrooms.

What happens if there is bad weather?
If the Town of Rockland cancels school or evening activities due to weather or other emergencies, all RRALC evening classes will also be canceled.
