My return to Rockland reminds me
Of my childhood and my warm memories.
Now I see all that I left behind me,
And seeing my friends feels like centuries.
Visiting the places we used to go,
Enjoying the food that I used to love,
And now it feels unreal doing so,
Feels like it is god's gift sent from above.
Winter was the best time for me and Mom,
Before school, she used to make me hot tea,
And when I had quizzes, that made me calm,
Here alone I can feel her absentee;
These memories will always follow me,
Until I make new ones and let them be.

Mom, with the love that you give me
and the food you make daily,
My words can describe how much love,
When you get home from hardworking
And my smiles aren’t smirking,
You always find a way to cheer me up
And to my brother
which we love one another
you stay trustworthy like no other,
Although things come to an end,
For the time we spend,
You will always be, like my best friend
I love my grandma and her dinner with steak,
Can we just go back to when we would to bake?
She loves her wine and she acts so kind,
And she’d be grateful if you given her a dime
And as my grandpa stays humble,
he sits in his bubble
His bubble’s his couch
Where he can sit down and slouch,
As I can vouch that he will not leave
Unless a meal is now fresh
And it’s time to feast
In our house there’s some rules,
Just don't make a mess
And don't steal my grandpa's tools
The Question of You
By Asher Betrand
Your actions disorient me
It’s a constant question of why
Why you smile at the small things
Why you laugh at the little aspects
Why do you put the effort in
But maybe it isn’t much of a question
Why your smile brightens everyone’s day
Like a million suns side by side
Why your laugh beams through the room
Like dandelions seeds floating in the air
Why you make the simplest things seem amazing
Like everyday is worth living just to see you
Pastel Car, Angie Fallavollita
I.
The sound of friends
Laughing hysterically
Is amusing to hear
And it becomes hard
Not to join in.
II.
Waves crashing and spraying
Salt on the sides of the boat
Covering the lighthearted sounds
Of teenage life.
III.
The playing of upbeat music
Brings joy to their ears
As they begin to dance
And sing along
To their favorite songs.
IV.
The white boat
Sailing and swaying
Over the waves
Is both calming
And terrifying
All at once.
V.
The sun brightly shining its golden rays
Giving warmth and light
With night soon to come.
VI.
Tropical fish splashing and swimming
In their own schools
Make it hard to understand
That they live their own separate lives
Oblivious to the differences
And cruelty
Of the world above.
VII.
The sunset setting
On the distant horizon
With its pink and orange hues
Casts shadows over the boat
And brings peace and unity
And reminds us
That we all live in the same world.
Low Relief Sculpture, Gabriella Persichini
Mama said keep your head up,
I try my best to stay positive
Most of the time it works
Staying true to myself, having a good time with my family
Jumping around and spreading my extroverted energy
Energy that has an unreliable battery life
Mama said keep your head up,
Sometimes I fail to do that
Self-doubt keeps me locked up
Locked up in too much negativity to bear
Introverted all the time, social life not up to date
Never trusting myself, can’t handle the criticism …

I miss how little you used to be
When you were just a little baby
Holding you and hugging you tight
Cradling you till you fell asleep at night
The love and affection I have for you
Is like a dog at the treat section
Your long and fluffy hair
Makes you look like a teddy bear
So sweet and innocent
And your cute glimpse
Your little grin
And your dimples on the sides of your chin.
