This calendar includes dates of events and important deadlines for our chapter at
Turner Ashby High School as well as Virginia and National FCCLA.
FCCLA members from across the state of Virginia will come together to attend general sessions, compete in STAR events and strengthen their leadership skills.
FCCLA members from across the nation will come together to network, attend leadership workshops, and compete in competitive events.
Three of our members traveled to National Fall Conference to compete in skill demonstration events and to receive results/recognition for online challenge test competitions they entered. While at this conference they also attended leadership workshops and explored the beautiful city of Birmingham.
FCCLA members from our Virginia delegation along with members from across the nation attended advocacy training sessions and learned all about Congress. On the final day of the conference students advocated on behalf of CTE education and FCCLA on Capitol Hill by speaking with legislators in both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
FCCLA members from across our county attended a workshop at one of our local middle schools on parliamentary procedure. In this workshop they learned all about "Robert's Rules of Order" and how to properly open, facilitate and close a meeting.
At our local county fairgrounds members from across our area rallied together for our annual Fall Leadership Rally. At this event members participated in community service, learned new things about FCS and FCCLA and had the opportunity to enter the Virginia FCCLA pumpkin decorating contest.
Various FCCLA members from our chapter attended one or both of these college days offered by Virginia FCCLA. While at each college, members attended sessions to learn about majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences at that specific college and even got a tour of the campus classrooms and dorms.
Turner Ashby FCCLA members traveled to the Virginia State Fair to enter their projects in the Virginia FCCLA D.I.Y. competitions. While their projects were being judged, members got to explore the state fair and learn all about Virginia's deep agricultural roots. Of course some delicious fried foods and roller coasters were also involved!
