Library Pass Policies
Library: Quick Visit- Use this pass for short library visits such as: checking out or returning books, asking a quick question, printing materials, or other brief library needs. This is a round-trip pass, similar to a bathroom pass. Students should return to class within approximately 10 minutes.
Library: Work Period- Use this pass when a student will be working in the library for more than 15 minutes. Teacher approval is required before sending the student. Please use the comment feature to provide any information the library staff needs about the student's visit or work session.
Teacher Approval Is Required- Please approve all library passes before students leave your classroom. This helps prevent students from coming to the library without teacher permission.
Library Availability- If a pass option is available, the library is accepting students. If we are closed, unavailable, or at capacity, the pass option will be turned off and an Out of Office message will appear.
Substitute Teachers- The library will not accept passes from substitute teachers. If you will be absent and would like your students to work in the library, please email the library in advance to make arrangements.
Pass Limit- The library has an 8-pass limit to help manage the number of students visiting at one time. If a student receives a message that the library is at its queue limit, they should wait a few minutes and try again.
Trailblazer Time
Monday: The library does not accept any passes during Advisory/Club.
Tuesday–Friday: The library accepts Quick Visit passes only. For group projects or meetings during Trailblazer Time, please arrange an appointment pass in advance.
Lunch Passes- Students who are approved to eat lunch in the library will receive a blue keychain lunch pass to show administrators or lunch monitors.
New: To help reduce the number of students eating in the library, lunch passes are limited to students with special accommodations or administrator approval.
Copying and Laminating
Amanda Haney is our dedicated copy clerk. Her hours are 7:00-3:00. She is unavailable from 10:30-12:00 as she assists with study halls and lunch detentions.
Copying: Copy request forms and drop offs are located outside the copy room in the library as well as across from the mailboxes in the main office. Please do not email copy requests. All copies have a 24-turnaround time (for large quantities allow 48 hours) and can be picked up outside the copy room. (During testing, we will often place copies in mailboxes.) Our new copiers cannot process taped or glued items.
*For confidential items like IEPs, please see Amanda in person.
Laminating: Laminating request forms and drop offs are on the bottom of the cart outside the copy room. For larger items, a separate cart is available for drop off down that hall outside the AV room. Laminating will occur at 10am on Wednesday, so please drop off laminating requests before 9am. Items should be smaller than poster-board size. We cannot laminate glued or painted items.
Testing and Availability: During SOL Testing, we will be unable to make copies. All copies will be made before or after school. Please do not enter SOL Testing rooms to drop off copy requests.
