A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME

I am originally from Portland, Oregon but chose to attend college at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg. In the fall of 2003, I completed my student teaching here at Peak View and then continued with the same class as a long-term substitute. After my experience student teaching and substituting here at Peak View I knew that I would love to remain working in the area. I then graduated from EMU in December of 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I am certified in both PreK-6 and Special Education K-12. In December 2010, I completed my Masters in Reading at EMU and I completed my Administrative Certificate through James Madison University in the summer of 2013. My ultimate goal is to be a principal someday!

I was hired at Peak View in 2004 and taught first grade for four years. While teaching first grade I was voted Peak View’s Teacher of the Year in 2006-2007. It was a true honor! I then moved to teach third grade for two years and Kindergarten for one year. I was then able to return to teaching first grade for the next seven years. During the 2018-2019 school year, I was one of Peak View's Reading Specialists and then I had the opportunity to return to the classroom in second grade. This will be my fourth year in second grade and as you can see, I am always open to new experiences and I love learning and growing as a teacher. I have a true passion for helping all students grow and succeed and I know that we will have a lot of fun together this year!

My husband, Brit, and I were married on July 21, 2012 here in Virginia. We have four dogs and welcomed our son into the world in March 2014. His name is Beckett and he loves being active outside. He is very excited to be in second grade right here at Peak View. We then welcomed our daughter, Paisleigh Grace, in November of 2017. Beckett and Paisleigh Grace keep me on my toes and love to play together! In my spare time I judge cheerleading competitions, do private tutoring, enjoy coaching the Peak View Hippity Hoppers Jump Rope Team, reading, spending time at the beach and camping with my family.
