Startup Greeley is a community-led organization dedicated to growing a startup ecosystem in Greeley and Weld County. Initially supported by a grant from Greeley Economic Development, it is now led by volunteers throughout the community who are working to foster startups, job creation, local investment, investor education, and accelerators to grow Greeley's startups. This community is open to all and welcomes everyone to our events that are happening on a weekly basis.
Question: Who is leading Startup Greeley?
Startup Greeley is community-led and is an ad hoc organization to foster growth in the local startup ecosystem. It is not a corporation non-profit, or governmental organization, but rather a volunteer-led movement. The concept of Startup Greeley and the development of the Steering Committee were initially conceived of and executed by the Rockies Venture Club, a non-profit economic development organization that is an angel group, family of angel investing funds, startup accelerator, and education program for investors and entrepreneurs.
Rockies Venture Club (RVC) is running its HyperAccelerator Program, now in its 30th cohort in Greeley and it is open, at no cost, to startups in Greeley and Weld County. RVC is joined by gBeta who is offering their accelerator to Greeley/Weld startups as well.
If you are interested in joining the Startup Greeley Steering Committee, you can contact Derrek Jered at Greeley Economic Development and Urban Revitalization to join our next meeting.
How do I decide whether to go with the RVC or gBeta accelerators?
Both programs are great and can help most companies. They are both free to Greeley/Weld companies thanks to a generous grant from City of Greeley's Economic Development and Urban Revitalization. The gBeta program is an early stage accelerator for startups who are just starting out. RVC's HyperAccelerator program addresses the more advanced topics needed for investment including valuation, exit strategies, term sheets, due diligence, legal landscape, capital strategies and proformas, as well as it's classic Pitch Academy program. Of course if you are an investor, you are welcome to volunteer and/or attend the demo days for both organizations!
Question: I don't have a startup yet, are there still ways that I can engage?
Yes! There are lots of ways to engage with Startup Greeley. If you're looking to start your own startup, we have monthly programs for you including Pitch Academy, Startup Mastermind sessions, Scrappy Hour networking events, workshops, demo days and more.
If you're looking to mentor or invest in Greeley startups, let us know and we'll be glad to discuss mentoring options in upcoming events and/or investment in the local Rockies Greeley Fund, investing solely in Greeley/Weld County companies.
Are there any costs to attend Startup Greeley Events?
All events are completely free to Greeley and Weld County residents and businesses thanks to a generous grant from Greeley Economic Development and Urban Revitalization.
