Homework Procedures and Weekly Routines
Math: Paper homework is distributed 2-3 nights (mostly Tuesdays and Thursdays) per week due next day. These are typically front to back and feature the current learning targets. Occasionally review work is sent or work of a different nature. Any time there is not math homework, PLEASE PRACTICE MATH FACTS! If you need supporting materials to practice facts please let me know; I have games, flashcards, and a few online resources your child can utilize.
Reading: 20 reading minutes per night/ 100 minutes weekly on a reading log, until we begin the Tower of Books challenge. Use weekends to catch up on minutes.
Spelling and Vocabulary: Spelling and vocabulary will continue to look differently, as you may noticed last year in 2nd grade with our new curriculum. Vocabulary will be sent at the beginning of the unit. Spelling may not be every week.
Cursive: Your child will be learning cursive throughout the year. We start with lowercase letters and build until we read the uppercase. Your child may also have cursive homework if it isn't finished the time provided.
