19-20 Academic Planner 7

Welcome to Seventh Grade Agriculture! During our nine weeks together, students will begin to realize the importance of plants in the state of Minnesota during our 10 Crops of MN unit. The Sustainable and Precision Agriculture unit will help students compare and contrast past to present agriculture practices and technology's role in agriculture advancements. Together we will explore the industry of companion animals and its relevance to agriculture. Another unit of study include water conservation using a book titled "A Long Walk to Water." In addition, we will review the National FFA Organization using the FFA "official dress" as our focus. The last week of the quarter is usually spent completing the "Big Buck Challenge" in relation to MN wildlife and whitetail deer. Topics of study are typically student driven based on what students would like to learn. Critical thinking, forming opinions with supporting evidence, improving public speaking, and collaborative problem solving are skills we will focus on throughout the quarter. Overall, our goal is to gain an appreciation for the agriculture industry and increase our awareness about the value is holds in our society.
