As part of RSS’s applied skills and technical education program, your son or daughter will be exposed to and have the opportunity to operate various types tools of power machinery. We would like to stress that, before a student is allowed to operate equipment and use tools:

1. He / She will be instructed on the safe use of each power tool he / she will be allowed to use.

2. His / Her operating procedures will be checked by the teacher.

3. He / She will be supervised while operating the equipment.

We want you to know that students’ safety is a very important issue and that safety is stressed in our department and throughout the school. Safety is a culture, and it is each student’s responsibility to not only conduct themselves safely, but also the safety of others. There have been a wide range of rules in place to help ensure student safety, but if these rules are not upheld the offending student will be immediately removed from the class. You are encourage to review the safety rules and guidelines for your own reference which can be accessed on Google Classroom when we start our safety unit.

In order for us to have an awareness of your knowledge of your child’s activities, we must have your consent before allowing your child to use any equipment or tool. By filing out the form with your information it will give this consent. If you have any questions or concerns about these matters please feel free to contact me anytime.
