Governor's School

Information about the following Governor's Schools will be posted here when 2022-2023 information is released. 


These schools have strict application processes.

2023 Summer residential Governor's Schools


General Information

-       Applications are open for current 10th and 11th grade students.

-       A school or division selection committee chooses the nominees from each school or division and forwards the nominees to a state committee.

-       Consideration is given to students’ academic records, test scores, extra-curricular activities, honors and awards, creativity, original essays, and teacher recommendations.

-       Because of the limited number of residential placements available, not all students who are nominated by their schools can be accepted for participation.

-       Applications should be typed.

-       Please utilize the writing lab for assistance before turning in your application.

-       Our LEA number to be used on your application is 081-0022.

Visual and Performing Arts

Dance, Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Theatre, Visual Arts

-   The online application can be found at, http://www.doe.virginia.gov/instruction/governors_school_programs/summer_residential/index.shtml under the section titled Applications and Resource Materials.

-       Applications must be sent to Mrs. Flint at lindsey_flint@rockbridge.k12.va.us by November 11, 2022. Applications will not be accepted after this date.

-       If needed, a local adjudication will be held the week of November 14-18. Applicants will need to have portfolios ready for adjudication.

 

Academic

Agriculture (100), Humanities (100), Mathematics, Science & Technology (160),  Engineering (12), Marine Science (6)

 Disclaimer

Programs charge an activities fee to students to cover extracurricular activities and events that occur outside the academic day. Families are responsible for activity fees that may range from $85 - $210.
