The RCS Mental Health Advisory is chaired by the Behavioral Health Department and is made up of many stakeholders that collaboratively work with Rockingham County Schools to support mental health implementation. It is the mission of the RCS Mental Health Advisory through a collaborative and comprehensive approach between Rockingham County Schools and community mental health providers, to ensure access to a full continuum of high-quality and well-coordinated mental health services for our students (RCS Mental Health Advisory Council, 2018 and updated 2021).

RCS has a Model Social Emotional Learning and Mental Health Program!

RCS Mental Health Implementation was shared with North Carolina Exceptional Children’s Division on Monday (10/25) and previously in 2020 also.
Dr. Stephanie Ellis and Dr. Shotwell presented on 11/03/21 to the State Board of Education!

This session highlighted Rockingham County Schools/Project AWARE’s full continuum of Social Emotional Wellbeing & Mental Health Supports. In addition, recommendations were provided to the SBOE including supporting state teaming structures and staffing that mirror the Rockingham example.
