Elementary Battle of the Books
Fourth and fifth grade students at Monroeton have the opportunity to participate on the Elementary Battle of the Books (EBOB) team which is sponsored by the North Carolina School Library Media Association (NCSLMA). Team members read books from a preselected reading list and answer detailed questions about the books in a "quiz bowl" type setting against teams from other RCS elementary schools.

Each year, the RCS champion competes in the NC Region 5 competition. Over the years, our teams have been very successful in RCS county championships. Monroeton teams have placed in the top 3 in 4 out of 5 years. In 2018, the Monroeton EBOB team was county champions and advanced to the Region 5 competition.
