Mrs. Elizabeth Smith-Ferris has been working for Rockingham County Schools since the 1999-2000 school year! She began as a teacher assistant while she finished working on her college degree at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she earned in BS in Human Development and Family Studies with a birth-kindergarten teaching license. She has taught in several different areas and positions throughout her career such as pre-school, title I interventionist, kindergarten and first grade.
Ms. Tamara Mills is Mrs. Smith-Ferris' teaching assistant. She has worked in Rockingham County Schools for the past 26 years. She is a phenomenal addition to the classroom teaching dynamic and truly has a passion for teaching. She often gets the opportunity to teach the children of children that she has taught in the past and enjoys watching the students grow and learn.
Ms. Amy Griffin has been with Rockingham County Schools for the past 24 years. She graduated from UNC-G with a BS in Elementary Education and also attended UNG-G to complete a Masters in Elementary Education and a Masters in School Administration. She has been at Huntsville since it opened and loves kindergarten!
Ms. Lindsay Edwards is Ms. Griffin's teaching assistant. She joined the Huntsville family during the 2019-2020 school year and has quickly became a wonderful part of our kindergarten team.
Mrs. Melanie Hightower started her teaching career with Guilford County Schools where she taught a span of grades including fifth, second and first. She has been a part of Rockingham County Schools since 2017 and absolutely loves teaching kindergarten! She received her Elementary Education Master’s degree with K-6 licensure from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
Mrs. Peggy Stines is Mrs. Hightower's teaching assistant. She has worked for Rockingham County Schools for the past 23 years. Her joy is working with children and making sure her teammates are always having fun! She was a daycare director for 15 years and has had the opportunity to work with the children of children she taught during her daycare career! She loves the kids and it shows daily in her "heart" work!
Mrs. Michelle Peters joined Rockingham County Schools and the Huntsville family in September of 2019. She started teaching in Pennsylvania in 2000 and while teaching opened an independent preschool in Ohio in 2012. She moved to North Carolina and began teaching there in 2015. Her experience includes teaching preschool, kindergarten, and special needs students. She has a BA degree in Liberal Studies/Concentration Early Childhood and NC license in Elementary Education with Pre-K/K extension and Special Education(General Curriculum).
Ms. Nikki Anderson is Mrs. Peters teaching assistant. She joined the Rockingham County Schools and Huntsville Hound family during the 2017-2018 school year. She quickly became an asset to our Huntsville team and loves her job working with children! She has a BS degree in Social Sciences with a minor in child development from Ashford University.
