Our Journalists

My name is QuinElla but I go by Quinn and I am a sophomore. Some of my hobbies I enjoy are taekwondo, reading, watching TV, going outside and hanging out with my friends. I also love writing and I used to write short stories in my free time. I also did one year of debate but I was hoping to be able to write stories about what I enjoy and to be able to talk to people about their perspectives as well as do some photography for my stories if that is possible. I want to be a part of the newspaper staff because it teaches some amazing skills depending on what you plan to do. I hope it will help me to learn more about writing, social skills and more. I can’t wait to also be able to meet new people who also have these interests!

Hey! I’m Natalie Thomson, a sophomore here at John Marshall, and here is a little bit about me. I play softball for JM and have been playing with them since 7th grade. But, I have been playing softball in general since I was about 8 years old. Not only do I love playing sports but I also love watching them, specifically hockey, football, and baseball. My dad played a ton of sports growing up and his love for sports was definitely passed down to me. But I also love to read, try new crafts, and hang out with my friends. My favorite color is pink and my favorite animal is definitely a sea otter. I prefer a nice calm, quiet environment over a loud and chaotic one, I also love having all my spaces organized and clean. I would definitely say that I love all things girly, doing my hair and makeup, buying new clothes and anything pink and flowers. I want to be on the JM newspaper staff because I want to work in sports when I am older, like sports journalism and sports media. I would love to write articles about athletes or coaches here at JM, do weekly sports updates so people can keep up, and maybe help run the JM newspaper social media accounts. I just recently learned about the Rocket Newsletter and I think it will be a fun experience! 

My name is Madelyn McGowan (Mady), I am a Junior here at JM and I'm involved with Big Brother, Big Sister and now the Newspaper. I love music, arts, movies and chocolate. I want to be a part of the Newspaper because I thought it would be fun and I also would love it if my photographs and news stories made people in JM feel heard, understood and valued.

Q: Why do you want to be a part of the newspaper staff?

A: I want to join because my father is a journalist and correspondent for Saudi 24, and I want to follow in his footsteps. I also love writing news in Arabic.
