JM MARCHING BAND HOME GAMES
Timeline for a game:
Kickoff for Friday night games is usually 7 pm. Check the schedule to confirm game times.
2 hours before kickoff – Musicians arrive through door 30 to prepare their instruments and get into uniform. Personal items needed during the game should be loaded in the support car (location A).
1:20 before kickoff – Musicians report to the auditorium for warm-up.
0:30 to 0:40 before kickoff – Musicians line up in the loading dock area (B) and drumline marches from the auditorium to the dock (white line).
0:20 to 0:30 before kickoff – Band marches to the stadium (red line) and around the track, then plays the pre-game show on the field.
First half – Band sets up in the east endzone (C) and plays during the game. Line up for halftime is done when there are 4 minutes left in the half.
Halftime – The band plays their halftime show after the dance team performs.
3rd Quarter – The band has the quarter off from playing. They can go to the concession stand or say hi to their adoring fans in the stands.
4th Quarter – The band plays in the east endzone like the first half. When the game has 6 minutes left, all personal items should be back in the support car. Game’s Conclusion – The band plays the fight song one more time for the football team then lines up to march to the front entrance (black line).
Post-Game – Musicians may gather at the flag pole in front of the main entrance (D) to play a bit more and share the joy of music. The band boosters have merchandise for sale.
If you would like to help out at the game to ensure all of this runs smoothly you can sign up during the season.
• All volunteers who sign up and walk in with the band get free admission to the game. Some volunteer jobs allow you to head to the stands during the game and/or halftime show.
• Parents, grandparents, other family members, and friends are welcome to volunteer for games.
• Volunteers are welcome to sit in the grass by the band during the game. Bring a small camp chair or blanket if you would like.
• This is a great opportunity to meet other band supporters, watch football, and help the musicians have a great game.
Personal items will be brought to the stadium in the support car. There is limited space in the car so only bring items you need during the game. Other items can be left in your band locker or with a family member.
What to bring:
• Full reusable water bottle - Water to refill bottles and cups will be available on the field.
• Funds for concessions (if desired)
• Snacks- Non-fragile snacks in stackable containers can go in the support car. If you want to bring something fragile (bread, cake, chips) please ask a family member or friend to deliver it to the field.
• Blankets – Later in the season games may be cold, so a blanket is a great idea.
