The idea of developing a network Pan-Wales to share ideas and practice was developed after a conversation between two teachers who become friends through Edu-twitter.
Jonathan Keohane (Head Teacher, Roath Park Primary School, Cardiff) and Jamie Taylor (Deputy Head Teacher, Craigfelen Primary School, Swansea) had began sharing ideas and professional conversations through Twitter in early 2019. Although geographically close, both schools were different in their context and approach things in different ways.
Initially Jamie set up a Twitter conversation/message and likeminded educators were added to bring about discussion regarding curriculum development. That quickly evolved into the development of "Cymru Curriculum Connects" own Twitter page to bring people together. In October 2021 the Twitter following had grown to 700+ (in just 5 weeks) and the first Teach MEET event was held.
The network has been developed to simply share ideas and practice. It is not intended to replace any existing systems, but to enhance them. We simply want to develop discussion and the sharing of ideas.
This is an exciting time in Welsh education and it is a privilege to be working in Welsh schools. Hopefully you will gain something from what our wonderful contributors offer.
Jonathan & Jamie.
