Your child should read every day for 20 minutes
The books that they read should be on their reading level (your child should have these books from school, but the teachers can also assist you with this)
For levels below N - Your child should practice reading out loud to develop fluency. If you are not available for them to read to, they can read to a sibling, the family pet, or their stuffed animals.
Re-reading is important! When children practice books and even memorize them, they begin to develop fluency and learn sight words.
Create a culture of reading at home
Read out loud to your child every day
Let your child see you reading and enjoying books
Create cozy spots for reading
Go to the library frequently and check out books
Have conversations about the books that you are reading
