"We Serve." Those two words define who we are as Lions. Through the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute Foundation (RMLEIF), they come to life every day. RMLEIF is how Lions across Colorado and Wyoming turn their commitment to vision into action, funding the research, programs, technology, and patient assistance that make sight-saving care possible at the Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center, part of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Department of Ophthalmology, on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora.Â
Since 1925, when Lions accepted Helen Keller's challenge to become "Knights of the Blind," our mission to preserve and restore sight has remained strong. Through RMLEIF, we continue to live our motto, "We Serve, " by supporting access to advanced eye care.

Karre's Story
As a teenager, Karre never imagined experiencing the rite of passage to drive a car. Through the Low Vision Rehabilitation Clinic at the Sue Anschutz-Rodgers Eye Center and with financial assistance from RMLEIF, she received an assistive bioptic device, achieving the unexpected. Karre earned her first restricted driver's license at the age of 52 and regained her independence!
Lions' contributions to RMLEIF are instrumental in expanding and equipping exam areas, providing financial assistance for patient access to care, and supporting low vision services that help individuals maximize their remaining sight, maintain independence, and improve their quality of life.
