Mr. Derris is excited to join the West Park Counseling Department as the new Learning Support Specialist. Prior to him joining the team, he served as a Paraprofessional at S.T.A.R Academy in Natomas. He earned his degree in Child Development from California State University, Sacramento and plans to pursue a master of science degree in Educational Counseling.

Mr. Derris is committed and passionate towards helping and supporting our students to ensure their success inside and outside of the classroom.

During his spare time he enjoys spending time with his two dogs, snowboarding, mountain biking and camping. He serves as drumline instructor and visual director for the Indoor Percussion program here at West Park.
