Speed Dating

What is Speed Dating?

Speed dating is a way for you to spend just a few minutes with several different recommended books in order to find a book that you really want to read. You will have a chance to select a book that catches your eye and then read and/or listen to a part of the book to see if it interests you. You will speed date with six books and then pick your favorite one to check out.

Speed Dating Directions

1. Focus on only one book during each rotation. Do not change books mid-rotation.

2. If you don’t find a book that’s a match for you, keep looking.

3. If you find a book that you like, write down the name of the book and the table # (on the Google Form) so that you can come back and find the book again if you decide to check it out.

4. Keep scoping out the other books because you never know when you might find one that you like better!

Timeline for Each Rotation

Minute #1 - Scroll through all of the books on your assigned page and choose a book that grabs your attention.

Minute #2 – Look at the front cover and read the inside flap.

Minute #3-5– Read, listen, or watch an excerpt from the book by clicking on the book cover.

Minute #5 - Record the title, table #, and thoughts about each book on the Google Form.
