Education is a life long process that individuals and groups take part in every day. Schools are beginning to make the change from the traditional system using letter grades and Carnegie Units to assess learning to proficiency based grading. This change in education is in line with my own philosophy. I believe that education is most effective using real world situations and experiences and allowing students to explore using project based and inquiry based learning, as well as hands on experience though job shadows, internships, and other real world connections. Natural curiosity and building on a student's individual passions should be the focus of education, and will result in creating innovative and inspired life long learners.
