Attached you will find a curated list of academic support programs available to RUSD families, a description of the service, and contact information should you wish to follow up for questions.

Parents please don't forget that daily learning is an important part of student achievement. This means that students should be logging in daily for class, and returning to class after each scheduled break.
Teachers assign work to be done during class, as well as independently (homework, small group, and independent work time). The goal is that students are to complete all assignments. If your child needs support, their teachers are here to help. Asking questions is an important part of learning.
Come to class on time.
Enter the virtual classroom with your microphones muted.
Return to class after assigned breaks.
Remain in class for the duration of every lesson.
Complete all assignments (synchronous and asynchronous).
We highly encourage your child to use their camera during class time. There are several benefits for having cameras on. (Camera use is not required).
Classmates are able to make a visual connection with one another.
The teacher can gauge whether or not the student is focused, and can provide increased support.
Students feel more connected to their classroom when they are visible.
Students are more likely to remain focused.

RUSD Students have access to DreamBox by logging into their CLEVER accounts. very time a child logs into DreamBox, they are immersed in an interactive world of math where learning is FUN! A consistent platform they login to—whether in the classroom or at home—DreamBox brings engaging lessons to keep your child on track.
Lexia Core5 Reading is a Pre-K-5 website as well as a Chrome or iOS app that aims to build foundational reading skills for students through personalized learning. The program focuses on six aspects of reading instruction: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and structural analysis
We now have a CLASS DOJO account for the Riverside Virtual Elementary Program. CLASS DOJO is a great way to connect directly to your child's teacher, and get news and information directly from them. This will be a great way to get instant updates and immediate communication with your child's teacher.

Thanksgiving Break is still a great time to keep your child motivated about learning. Some great ideas are below:
Read books with your child, then help your child design a poster that represents what the books was about.
Practice Math Facts with your child by making flash cards, and play a math facts game with your child.
October is Bullying Prevention Awareness Month.
Share quality children's literature as a starting point for a whole class discussion about the human experience of war. Possible titles include: "Nim and the War Effort" by Milly Lee (for ages 4-8)
"The Wall" by Eve Bunting (for ages 4-8)
"Veterans Day" by Mir Tamim Ansary (for ages 4-8)
"Behind the Blue and Gray: The Soldier's Life in the Civil War" by Delia Ray (for ages 9-12)
