Transition to Middle School


The transition from Elementary School to Middle School can produce excitement and anxiety.  This presentation is designed to provide both students and parents with valuable information to make the transition successful.  Topics include The Middle School Experience, AERIES Parent Portal, Six Year Plans, and CaliforniaColleges.edu (college and career exploration).


Audience: Grades 4th - 6th

RCC Dual Enrollment 

Earn College Credit While in High School


Learn how students can earn up to a year of college credit before they graduate high school.  Students can earn up to 30-semester college credits in college courses that are taught at their high school and count for high school graduation at no cost to the student.


Audience: Grades 8th - 11th

Riverside City College delivers a direct route to earn a certificate, associate degree, and/or transfer to a four-year university or work; Riverside City College has a pathway for you.  Topics will include understanding the various programs available to students and the admissions process.

College Readiness 101


Families will receive a general overview of the educational options in higher education, the Pathways to a degree, admission requirements that include the sequence of courses known as A-G courses, grade point average, test requirements, and financial aid to assist students in becoming college and career-ready.

Audience: Grades 10th- 12th

College for Undocumented Students

Since January 1, 2002, California's AB 540 law allows undocumented immigrant students pursuing a higher education who meet specific requirements to be exempt from paying out-of-state tuition fees and be provided financial assistance.  Parents and students will be informed of their education rights under this law with an overview of recent immigration updates, including DACA and the Dream Act.

Audience: Grades 7th - 12th

Anti-Bullying


Parents and students will be informed about Bullying, the conditions surrounding bullying, and support systems to prevent and assist those affected by bullying.

Improving Our Communications Skills 

Participants will learn the different communication styles, identify their own, and learn the nonviolent communication model to improve their relationships at home and work.
