OUR MISSION
It is the mission of the Matthew Gage Middle School Counseling Department to provide all students access to academic, social/emotional, and college and career counseling. Counselors advocate strongly for students--both inside and outside of school--and strive for them to pursue higher education and careers. In partnership with other educators, parents/guardians, and the community, the Matthew Gage Middle School Counseling Department ensures a safe and positive school environment necessary for student success.
OUR VISION
All Matthew Gage Middle School students self-advocate and pursue higher levels of education in order to become productive members of society. Gage Gators are empathetic, respectful, resilient, and successful world citizens in the 21st century. They lead productive lives within our diverse global community, focusing on personal wellness and social, cultural, and environmental awareness.
OUR ROLE
The role of a Professional School Counselor is to design and deliver school counseling programs that improve student outcomes.
They lead, advocate and collaborate to promote equity and access for all students by connecting their school counseling program to the school’s academic mission and school improvement plan.
They uphold the ethical and professional standards of the American School Counseling Association (ACSA) and promote the development of the school counseling program based on the following areas of the ASCA National Model: define, deliver, manage and assess.
Gage Middle School Counseling Program offers a data-driven Comprehensive School Counseling Program that focuses on the Academic, Social-emotional, and College/Career success of our students. Our program is aligned with The American School Counseling Association (ASCA) National Model.
