A view inside of a computer simulation room at Lockheed Aircraft in 1987. I am the only female on the team!
I graduated with a bachelors degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Riverside where I learned to code in the following program languages: Assembly, Pascal, C and Fortran. Upon graduation, I began working with Lockheed Aircraft. They were remodeling their C130 planes into gunships (adding guns to the sides). As a programmer, I worked with a team of engineers and programmers which tested the aircraft's equipment before it was installed and used during flight. My job was to create an user friendly interactive display which the engineers could use to test their equipment.
I began teaching 21 years ago after working and living overseas for about 7 years. Most schools did not offer computer science classes but there was a great need for math teachers! So I quickly found a teaching job as a math teacher. I finally got the opportunity to teach computer classes about 5 years ago. I love teaching both math and computer science because they involve problem solving and creativity - without using traditional art supplies! My goal as a teacher is to get students excited about the computer science field which is changing and expanding everyday.
