Battle of the Books!
Battle of the Books is a reading competition where student participants gain important reading and comprehension skills, all while having fun reading with their friends!
In the competition, students are asked questions about the books and receive points for answering the correct title and author’s name. They may confer with their team before answering, so it is important that someone on the team has read each book. There will be a 1st and 2nd place prize for our winning teams! All books must be read by February 2027 which is around when we will hold our competition. The Battle of the Books competition will begin by shortned battle between the 7th Grade teams, and will be followed by the main battle between the 8th Grade teams.
Both 7th and 8th graders have a chance to join Battle of the Books, the only difference is the amount of books they read:
Eighth grade students work together in teams of 3-5 to read 10 books that have been pre-selected. The team has the choice to each read about 2-4 books per student or to individually read all 10. Student competitors can start reading their books May of their 7th Grade school year! They will then have the summer, and the months until February of their 8th grade school year to complete their reading.
Seventh grade students work together in teams of max 3 members. The team will read one pre-selected book. Student competitors will start reading their book in December and will need to complete their reading by February of the same school year.
