On Wednesday, November 27th, the World Languages and Cultures Club held the first annual Inflatable Costume Race as a fundraiser. The club members are raising money for the trip to Italy and Spain later this spring.
The fundraiser included students participating by placing bets on which teacher would win and who would lose. Students were able to place bets on the teachers they thought would finish 1st, 2nd, and 3rd or lose (3rd-to-last, 2nd-to-last, and last). Each bet was worth two dollars.
The staff volunteered to participate in this race wearing blow up, inflatable costumes. The following Riverside teachers and administration participated in this race: Ms. Renee Barucky (Business), Mr. Ryan Cavanaugh (English Language Arts), Mr. Greg Davis (Science), Mrs. Tanya Davis (Special Education and Spanish), Mrs. Megan Gerlach (Family and Consumer Science), Mrs. Trisha Haffner (Math), Ms. Marli Hoskins (Science), Mr. Pat Kennedy (History), Mr. Mike Kolessar (Math), Mr. Dave Krajewski (Math), Mr. Chris Lazor (Principal), Mrs. Christina McDermott (English Language Arts), Mrs. Stephanie McManus (Family and Consumer Science), Ms. Morgan Mickavicz (English Language Arts), Mrs. Angela Mozda (Spanish), Ms. Mimi Tilberry (English Language Arts), Mrs. Jessica Trescavage (Special Education), Mrs. Cait Yngelmo (Special Education).
After a spirited race, the results were Mr. Krajewski in 1st place, followed by Mr. Lazor in second, and Mr. Cavanaugh in third. The last two finishers were Mr. Kolessar and Mrs. Trescavage, who fought the entire way up and back, adding more history to their long-standing feud.
Sulekha Sharma, a Senior, won the bet, correctly guessing the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers. Because of that, she had the opportunity to pie Mr. Kennedy after he volunteered himself for more sales.
Left to right: Logan Conforti, Eric Santiago, Leon Peck, Christian Wheeler (took part in a skit), Matthew McKeefery, Ryan Wasko, and Mrs. Michelle Getts. Amylynn Nemergut was not present.

The Riverside Football Team made it to their first state playoff game since 2011, when they beat Dunmore in the District II Championship with a 24-6 Win.
In their first state playoff game, they played at Mid Valley High School against Lansdale Catholic Crusaders. LC came out strong scoring their first touchdown right away. Riverside did not back down and continued to score 17 points throughout the rest of the game. The team beat Lansdale 17-7 to make it to their second state playoff game.
Next, the Vikings met the Williams Valley Vikings at Berwick High School. They played hard and won 28-21.
In their last game, the Riverside Vikings faced the Troy Trojans, the eventual State Champions, in the state semi-final.
Unfortunately, they did come out on top but played a great season. The Riverside community is very proud of your hard work and dedication. Good luck to all of the Seniors and thank you for entertaining Friday nights.
