Students chose a POV writing activity or one of two digital designs:
Write a scene from Edgar Allan Poe's "Masque of the Red Death" but in the first person perspective of either Prince Prospero, a guest at the masquerade, a peasant who is outside with the plague, or the Red Death.
Design the setting of one of the rooms in Prince Prospero's castle. Be sure to use environment details both in the story and that you'd imagine based on the setting.
Design a mask that represents the major events, setting, characters, or theme from the story.
For these projects, students had lots of choice! They chose their group, the short story they used, and the type of project. They had to demonstrate their understanding of ALL the elements of fiction we studied in the first quarter. Many students opted for digital projects. Physical projects are displayed in the classroom.
