Alba Watershed Consulting provides technical support for Stream Management Plans across Colorado, and has also participated in the development and execution of several SMPs throughout the state, including projects in the Yampa, Big Thompson, and Blue River basins. For the West Plum Creek SMP, Alba is the prime contractor for the stream health assessment and data collection portion of the project.
Alba is a small full-service environmental consulting firm based in Boulder, Colorado, providing services in watershed science, assessment, characterization, and planning; field data collection and project monitoring; stream restoration; program management; project coordination; and reporting.
Alba was born in the aftermath of the 2013 Colorado Front Range floods, at a critical time for working through local issues in a watershed context and recognizing that human actions influence watersheds just as keenly as watersheds and river systems influence the social landscape that surrounds them. Alba believes that watershed-based approaches to river projects cultivate community, a collective sense of place, and a shared responsibility for stewardship of land and water resources. From a technical perspective, an interdisciplinary approach that incorporates hydrologic, geomorphic, ecological, and other disciplines is needed to develop scientifically sound solutions to today’s challenges.
