Frequently Asked Questions
My child has been selected for a W.I.N. Math Enrichment class with Mrs. Hafers. Is this the same thing as REignite?
These are two different offerings. Both are a part of our G&T program, but they have different levels of support. Students must meet a majority of criteria (various assessments, at a summary level, and teacher recommendations) to be invited. Math enrichment (sometimes referred to as Math W.I.N.) is a shorter, more focused class dealing with a particular math subject or standard, such as adding fractions or multiplying two-digit numbers. Students who have shown mastery of this particular skill are invited to work with Mrs. Hafers once a week on more advanced problems related to the same skill or standard. Every 6 weeks, another “topic” is chosen, those students are identified, and a different group of students, who have shown mastery of “that” new topic or standard, could be invited to participate.
Is W.I.N. pull-out or push-in support?
Students who are selected for intervention and enrichment support are pulled out of their classrooms to work with an interventionist or enrichment teacher. During the W.I.N. Period, all students are receiving support from a district staff member.
What If I did not receive a W.I.N. letter on the Genesis Parent Portal?
This means your child is currently performing at grade level. They will receive support from their classroom teacher. Please view the "Criteria" tab for more information regarding the W.I.N. selection process.
What If I have questions regarding my child's involvement during the W.I.N. Period?
Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher. All classroom teachers can recommend students' eligibility for intervention or enrichment. Recommendations must meet the criteria selected by the W.I.N. Team.
