Autumn Explore
This Term we have a mini Explore all about Autumn. We have been using our senses and learning the two words - evergreen and deciduous. Have a look at what we have been doing. Hands on experiences are the best! Can you see your child?
Take a look!
STEAM Activity
Today we have heard the story Goldielocks. We decided to help out Goldielocks and create a chair for her which was able to stand by itself and hold the weight of a gluestick. We have one more week to go but have a look at our chairs so far!
We pretended that the 'Gluestick' was the same wight and size as "Goldielocks' so we could test out the chairs. Have a look at what we have created! For our first time doing proper STEAM activity.
Explore: Volcanoes
Today we had Explore which we were able to pick out of a range of activities. Our teaching points were all about Viscosity, Chambers and the difference between lava and magma.
The tamariki did amazing at creating and labelling their own volcanoes. They began talk about viscosity and what that means.
Keep up you hard work team!
Volcanologists at Riverdale!
We are so lucky to have some ladies from Massey University visiting to talk to us all about Volcanoes. We couldn't believe all the facts and knowledge they had. They really were Tohunga (Experts) in their world! We had some great questions and they even let us have a look and feel of some real life rocks that came from various volcanoes! WOW.
Keep up the good work!
Swimming Sports
Yesterday we all had our own Swimming Sports just like the big tamariki had at the Lido. Ours was a little different. We had a floating on our back competition, flutter board competitions and who could hold their breath the longest!
A BIG thank you to Mrs Kenyon for organising this!
Well done to everyone who gave some events a go and tried their hardest! Here are some lucky winners of our Swimming Sports!
Doggy Paddling!
