In third grade, we will be working on further developing good, organized study skills. One place to start is at home. Each student should find a place at home where they will do their homework. It should be quiet and hopefully not in the same space as the television or X-box.
Expect about 30-40 minutes of homework per night. This includes 15-20 minutes of “pleasure” reading. This reading could include anything from their chapter book or Literature Group preparation to the daily newspaper (hopefully not just the comics).
Your child with have math homework twice a week. If a problem or concept is still confusing to your child, especially when you find yourself spending a lot of time reviewing/reteaching a topic, please let me know so that I can address it in class.
Weekend homework will be research and preparation for their speech (twice a year), and a book project (twice a year).
