OUR MISSION
The Purple Peacocks offers young performers opportunities to perform in and outside of the Richmond community. This platform is ideal for dancers with a dedication to grow, a passion to move, and an ability to shine in multiple stage settings. We reach our fullest potential through a focus on healthy competition and creating dances that test their limits.

Who is the Performance Company? The Purple Peacocks are a group of young individuals dedicated to dance, respectfully loving one another, and a strong desire to enhance their performance skills. What do we do? Performance Company dancers learn and perform choreographic routines , performed within the Richmond community and beyond!
When do we do it? With the exception of the first week of rehearsals, the Performance Company meets every Thursday from 5:30-8:50 PM for group dances. Solos, Duets, & Trios meet bi-monthly Saturdays 10:00 -12:00 PM or Fridays from 5:00-7:00 PM.
Company performances begin in October and continue through the season. Where do we do it? The Performance Company travels across the state of Virginia performing for the community. Our performance catalog typically includes 1-2 mandatory competitions.
Why do we do it? River City has a community of students with great talents that should be developed and shared with the community. With further growth and opportunities to perform, our ultimate goal is for students to gain necessary skills to be accepted into dance programs that complement their skills, . secure professional dance jobs if they so choose, mostly be great, advocates for dance.

Bravo Bravo Team!
The Bravo Bravo Team is a group of supporters of the Performance Company that seek additional funds to support the company members, and to assist the team with the cost of the Performance Company. These individuals come together to organize and facilitate fund raisers for the Performance Company such as “Chipotle”, Gelati Celesti, Bake Sales, Etc. River City offers an opportunity for the supporters to assist the students with their needs to relieve the families of the additional expenses. This is a parent ran organization that is available for all of the members.

How do we sign up?
By submitting your online application.
When are Auditions DEADLINE ?
Audition application are due by August 23rd by 6pm.
When is the Audition?
Auditions are Wednesday August 24th at 6:00pm
What should we wear?
Dance attire: Leotard, dance shorts or leggings, and tights.
Make sure that you have space and you are in a well lit area for virtual auditions .
Performance Company FAQs
How many times does the Performance Company perform?
Depending on the nature of the performance(s) the team has ongoing guest artist opportunities/ performance events not including the winter gala & closing recital in a season.
Do I have to have previous dance experience?
No. Previous dance experience is NOT required to audition for the Performance Company. We are looking for individuals that are willing to try their best and are eager to learn. We teach you everything that you need to know, you have to be willing to execute what is given to you and practice it.
Are there any requirements for a member?
Yes. Company members are required to take the recommended ballet class AND dance, leaps, & turns class. Members not able to take or compete with any other organization, this excludes academic schools or religious groups.
Can we pick which dances we are in?
When auditioning you are auditioning for the team overall, no matter of the style. When you audition you should be open to dancing any style of dance.
How are the dancers separated by experience level?
Grouping of the dancers are the choice of the Directors. We group dancers that would have a positive dynamic and would enhance the members dancing. Please refrain from comparing your child to others, everyone is on their own path. We are dance educators and we know what we are doing.
How many dances are the members in?
Each student will be in at least two dances.
